The Port Taranaki Whio are looking to use last week’s second half as inspiration against the Hawkes Bay Tui in the Farah Palmer Cup match on Friday night.
The Whio, who played Tasman last weekend in their second game of the campaign, can take plenty of positives out of the last 40 minutes.
After being down 26-0 at halftime, the Whio clawed their way back and scored 22 points in the second half and claimed a bonus point.
Assistant coach Braydon Peterson said the team maintained possession off the back of strong ball carries.
“We are looking to replicate that by starting like we finished last week to put together a complete performance.”
Peterson said he is already seeing the overall improvements in the side already this season.
There have been a handful of changes to the side, who will play in the double header at McLean Park.
Hooker Petra Zwart joins the squad and fellow front rower Lavenia Nauga-Grey earns a start after making a strong impact off the bench last week.
Wing Catriona Tulloch earns a start after making a strong impression on the coaches after her debut last week.
Lock Jessica Lampe will also make the run on XV after coming off the bench against Tasman.
New Zealand Junior Sevens players Iritana Hohaia, who scored a brace last week, and Brooke Neilson are several players who retain their starting positions.
Hawkes Bay started their season with two wins and sit at the top of the premiership table with Otago.
Kick off is at 5:00pm.
