DAN RADCLIFFE
Chairperson

Dan Radcliffe joined the Taranaki Rubgy Board in 2020 as an appointed Director and in June 2023 was nominated as Chairperson. 

Dan is a Taranaki entrepreneur and businessman who lives in North Taranaki with his young family. Through his work in business, Dan has enjoyed a number of successes, including the New Zealand Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2014 and being inducted into the World Entrepreneur Hall of Fame in 2015. Dan is affiliated to the Clifton Rugby Club - the club he played for as a junior.

SARAH MAKO 
Appointed Director

Sarah is of Ngaruahinerangi, Ngāti Rangitihi and Ngāti Whitikaupeka descent and is currently the Pou Taiao Matua/ Senior Environmental Policy Advisor for Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa, the post settlement governance entity for Te Atiawa. She has been a practising environmental planner for 10 years. 

A keen sportsperson, Sarah plays netball and basketball competitively. Having grown up in Stratford, where her whānau reside, Sarah is passionate about Taranaki Rugby and has a long association with Eltham Rugby Club and Stratford Rugby and Sports Club. She was an avid supporter of the merger of the two clubs. 

Sarah is actively involved in her hapū and iwi, currently serving as a trustee on Te Korowai o Ngāruahine. She is focused on supporting her whānau and community to achieve their aspirations. 

​​​​​​​KEVIN BARRETT
President

Kevin and wife Robyn are proud organic Dairy Farmers from Pungarehu and have been around the Coastal Rugby scene for many years.

Kevin was appointed Vice President of the TRFU Board in 2022 and is loving being involved in Taranaki Rugby since retiring from playing in 1999.

Kevin has eight children, three of which are in the current Yarrows Taranaki Bulls squad and his eldest son Kane, used to captain the team.

JOHN DAZLEY
Elected Director

Originally arriving in New Zealand to play rugby for Stratford in 1997 for a year, John decided to stay and make Taranaki his home. John has been constantly involved with the Stratford club and was involved in the successful merger of the Stratford and Eltham rugby clubs. It has been a pleasure for John to give back to the game which has had a great impact on his journey so far. John is looking forward to the opportunity to be on the TRFU board in these ever changing and challenging times for rugby.

MIKE SUMMERELL
Elected Director​​​​​​​

Mike was elected in 2021 and is affiliated to the Coastal Rugby Club. He is passionate about youth and community sport and is currently the Chief Executive of School Sport NZ. Mike taught Physical Education for 8 years before moving into the sport sector. He is looking forward to contributing to the work of the TRFU board and staff.​​​​​​​

BRUCE MAJOR
Elected Director​​​​​​​

Bruce is well known within rugby circles in Taranaki, having played for Hawera and Kaponga in the early 80’s and then an active referee from 1990 -2017.  

Bruce and Tanya have two adult children, both married, and two gorgeous grandchild all living in North Taranaki.

Originally coming from an agricultural background, Bruce and Tanya owned and operated several businesses in New Plymouth from 1989- 2014, when Bruce took up the role of Community Rugby Manager and Referee Recruitment/Educator for Taranaki Rugby until 2017.

SCOTT IRELAND
Appointed Director

Scott Ireland has had a long and continued affiliation with Taranaki Rugby. As a player he represented them at age group and ITM Cup level, as a coach he has had various representative sides under his watch and now he gets his chance to represent the province in the board room.  

Outside of rugby Scott has forged a successful career in the accounting and finance sectors, where he currently is an owner and director of a local accounting firm. 

Scott also is current board member of the New Zealand Rugby Players Association and has governance roles in various charitable endeavours.  Scott is affiliated to the NPOB Rugby Club, where he played, coached, and now sponsors the club. He resides with his wife and his three girls in central New Plymouth who all are keen netball players.    

KYLIE HAWKER-GREEN
Appointed Director

Kylie joined the TRFU Board in 2024, having recently relocated to the Taranaki region.  As a nationally recognised champion for diversity and inclusion in business, leadership and sport, Kylie has held a number of governance positions in a variety of sectors including professional sport, CCOs, arts and events, community organisations, private companies and large financial trusts.  She most recently was the Chair of Northern Districts Cricket Association, having served the organisation for eight years.

Her substantive role is Manager of New Zealand Major Events, where she leads the team who advise the government about investing in major events, and partner with the events sector to attract events, boost sector capability, and leverage event benefits for New Zealand.

She has previously worked in both the public and private sector in management, marketing and communications roles, as well as an event manager for a diverse mix of large scale events.  Kylie is a self-declared sports tragic, who has never played any sport at a competitive level but has taken up surfing at 50… so maybe now is her time!

PAIGE CROFT
Appointed Director

Paige was co-opted onto the Taranaki Rugby Board in 2024 and she is an emerging board member. ​​​​​​​

Paige is passionate about all things people related, and heads the People Passion, Taranaki office, supporting local and national businesses with HR, ER, People + Culture, Recruitment and employment law related matters.

With a background in law and having practised as a lawyer before launching People Passion, Paige has a wealth of knowledge in employment law and litigation.

With brothers and a father who were immersed in club rugby, including playing, refereeing and coaching rugby, Paige is no stranger to the game.  Paige is also passionate about the growth in the women’s game and increasing female representation in the sport.

Leading an active life with her family, Paige is looking forward to giving back to the community and making a difference within her role on the TRFU board.
