Yarrows Taranaki Bulls head coach Willie Rickards has named a wider training squad in preparation for the 2019 Mitre 10 Cup.

A total of 42 club players have been named in the squad with 22 forwards and 20 backs selected outside of Taranaki’s Super Rugby players.

The group will train on Wednesday night’s leading up to the 2019 Mitre 10 Cup, where the Bulls will play 10 matches.

Rickards said it was important to reward local club players for performing well during the competition.

“This wider group will form the ’spine’ of the 2019 Yarrows Bulls side. We are looking forward to growing these young men both on and off the field”, he said.

Notable players who have made the squad this year are Spotswood United prop Sione Sifa, Inglewood hooker Millennium Sanerivi and prop Crusader Faletagoai, Coastal lock Josh Lord, Spotswood United first five-eighth Josh Jacomb, Tukapa centre Lukas Halls and New Plymouth Old Boys midfielder Regan Verny.

Rickards will be joined by assistant coaches Tim Stuck and Craig Clarke and scrum coach Laurence Corlett.

The Yarrows Taranaki Bulls will play three pre-season matches in the lead up to the Mitre 10 Cup against Manawatu, Auckland and Waikato.
