Taranaki Rugby has congratulated its Yarrows Taranaki Bulls players for being selected in Investec Super Rugby squads for the 2019 season.

17 Bulls players have been contracted spread across the five New Zealand Super Rugby franchises.

The Chiefs have the largest representative of Taranaki players with nine contracted. The Hurricanes have three Taranaki players with Highlanders and Crusaders selecting two and the Blues picking up one.

Taranaki prop Reuben O’Neill is a new signing for the Chiefs after an impressive Mitre 10 Cup season which saw him selected in the All Blacks wider training squad in preparation for the Japan test match.

Taranaki loose forward Pita Gus Sowakula is another new signing for the Chiefs after being involved in the squad last year. He ended up playing seven matches for the franchise on top of his 16 games for the amber and blacks.

Crusaders will be without blockbusting centre Seta Tamanivalu who left for France at the Mitre 10 Cup. Former Chief and Taranaki midfielder Johnny Fa’auli has also moved off shore.

The 2019 Investec Super Rugby season kicks off on February 15 when the Chiefs host the Blues in Hamilton.
