Yarrows Taranaki Bulls Announce Wider Squad for Upcoming Season

The Yarrows Taranaki Bulls are proud to announce the formation of our wider squad for the upcoming season, featuring standout players from CMK Club Rugby and Taranaki Rugby Academy players.

This wider squad is designed to reward top performers in CMK Club Rugby and prepare them for potential inclusion in the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls’ main squad later in the season and our other Taranaki Rugby representative sides.

The wider squad will include promising players who have shown potential throughout the CMK Club Rugby competition. These players will have the opportunity to train within the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls’ system, gaining invaluable experience and exposure to the way we want to play in 2024

Neil Barnes, head coach of the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls, emphasised the importance of the wider squad:

"This wider squad is about recognising and rewarding the hard work and talent we see in our local competitions. It's crucial for us to create pathways for these players to step up to the next level. By integrating them into our training environment, we aim to develop their skills further and familiarise them with our systems. This not only strengthens our squad depth but also ensures we have a pool of well-prepared players ready to contribute when called upon."

The Yarrows Taranaki Bulls remain dedicated to fostering a strong connection with the local rugby community. This wider squad initiative is a testament to our commitment to recognising and developing the talent within our region.

"We are incredibly proud of the rugby heritage in Taranaki," said Coach Barnes. "Our aim is to build on that legacy by providing clear pathways for local players to reach higher honours. The support from our fans and community is vital, and we look forward to an exciting season ahead."

The wider squad will train for three weeks, then reduce further in the lead-up to the Bunnings NPC preseason matches. Secure your membership for our title defence with our Proud Amber & Black fans.
