Taranaki Rugby have entered a one-year high-performance partnership with Japan Rugby Top League club Shimizu Koto Blue Sharks.

The exclusive Japanese partnership arrangement will involve a rugby high performance development exchange between the two organisations.

Members of the Shimizu Koto Blue Sharks coaching and management team have fully immersed themselves in the early stages of the Yarrows Taranaki Bulls 2023 Bunnings Warehouse NPC campaign.

Taranaki Rugby Chief Executive Mike Sandle says the relationship aligns well with the TRFU’s strategy.

"This is a valuable relationship for Taranaki Rugby, and we believe it provides genuine value for both parties.

From a TRFU perspective this project aligns with our plan to grow an international relationship. It is great to have a contingent of Shimizu Koto Blue Sharks management here in Taranaki as we support them in developing their rugby programme.”
